Kitchen make over HIDI style

Hi All,

Today's HIDI DIY is my kitchen backwash...

So we redid our kitchen about 2 years ago, but we only put up one line of kitchen tiles (because the store had only one box at the time) and we said that when we have time we would put the rest up...(Lol) 2 years later... that never happened.

Due to the fact that i get bored of things very quickly i thought i might DIY it.

Yesterday, I started painting and thought i would paint some flowers or shapes... but who am i kidding... i cant draw even if my life counted on it....
I got so frustrated about it, i just left it and said "ill do it in the next 2 years".

Got up this morning, and as i was having a cup of coffee, i saw my place mats... IDEA!!! Off to Ikea i go...

I found these striped black and silver place mats which were perfect (and only for 0.99 euro!!!)

What i did is got the place mats (Total of 10 for my kitchen) and cut them down to the exact size of the space between the tiles and the upper cabins, and stuck double sided the tape (you can also use a glue gun or silicone)  on the back and onto the wall.
And here we have the finished project! hope you like!!!

Its so easy, no tiles, no mess, no fuss and it only took me an hour to do.

The best 3 things about this HIDI DIY:
1. Its Cheap!!! (each mat cost 0.99 euro at Ikea and i already had the tape and the scissors) Total cost: 9.90 Euro.
2. Very easy to clean... chuck them into the dish washer and stick them back on the wall (you cant do that with tiles can you???)
3. If and when i get bored of the pattern or colors, just make a quick visit to Ikea and get new place mats.

Thats it for today...
2 next time!!!

Sunday 22 September 2013

Hi again, this is one of my HIDI fast crafts with a twist:

OK, so i found this on the web (Designsponge.com) and fell in love with it, its just so elegant.

and well its obvious how it is made, but it had "how 2"..

My version was a bit more edgy, i love color and crafting on a budget, so i used paper from an old magazine (i have many laying around) and i hot glued it all to the paper ball lamp.

This is what we have. total cost of this project was 2 euro and it took me about 1 hour to complete it.

All that is needed is for Daddy to come and hang it in my craft room...
(please do excuse the picture ... Hint to Dimitry my husband... I need a new camera!!!)

2 Next Time

Hi there, and welcome.

Hi there everyone,

Welcome to my Blog, i am very new at this kind of thing so please bare with me.

Let me explain quickly who i am and what this blog is all about,

I am Anna, i am a 32 years old, married to Dimitris, and we have 4 year old son Johnny.

I don't consider my self to be a Crafter, I'm just a crafty person. (I have many things still to learn before i call my self a crafter)

I love crafting, but i never had time to craft (working to much). Recently i decided to quit my job and just take a brake for a year and see what i can do. (that was 6 month ago...)

So what I'm going to do here is show you what i have done with the DIY's i find interesting and fun, (some with my own little twist.

I hope you like what i make and i am very open to any comments you have good or bad (i can take it!!!)

Thanx
